RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION AND BURSARY
Annual registration as a registrar at Wits University is essential to maintain student status, access academic resources, and comply with institutional requirements. It ensures continued support, eligibility for funding, and access to university services. Failure to register may result in losing academic standing and essential resources.
STEP 1: Log into your WITS student self-service portal

STEP 2: Complete the student contract - this is an icon on the home page

STEP 3: Click on register online icon - a message will pop up stating your first fee payment is still outstanding

STEP 4: Then proceed to the second tab on left "First Fee Payment" and complete the page to waiver the first fee

STEP 5: Once completed the waiver, then click on register online tab on the left and on "next" Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine

STEP 6:
Proceed to register online by following the next few prompts:

Selecting your preloaded courses - this will change/be different depending on which year of study you are in

Validate your courses

Sign the terms and conditions page

Once online registration is complete, you will receive this below message

STEP 7: Wait for a few days for WITS to update your fee statement
This can be followed up/checked on your student self portal under campus finance icon (you will need this to apply for the bursary)

STEP 8: Once your fee statement has been updated to the current year, then proceed to apply for your BURSARY ONLINE VIA THIS LINK

​Upload your MBBCh transcript and new fee statement to the bursary portal

HPCSA FORM 9
HPCSA Form 9 is an official document required by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). It is used for the annual renewal and verification of medical professionals working in specific fields, such as emergency medicine. This form is essential to confirm that healthcare practitioners are correctly registered and authorized to practice within their allocated posts.
Once the form is filled out, it must be handed to Prof Motara's office for the Head of Department's signature to finalize the process. Below are important guidelines to follow when completing the HPCSA Form 9:

The form must be signed by the Head of the Department (Prof Motara) and the Medical Superintendent at the hospital where you are employed.

All registrars and fellows must be allocated a department W number (board-approved post number), which must be included on the form.

The section labeled “Original official date stamp of institution” must not be stamped by the hospital, school of clinical medicine, or department.

4. HOW TO PAY YOUR WITS ANNUAL FEES?
You can access your account with your fee statement and pay your university fees via the WITS self-service portal.

Select icon - Campus Finance - the select tab "make a payment"

Online direct payment can be done which will reflect immediately on your fee statement OR EFT can be made as per details on fee statement​

A portion of your fees are subsidized by the government via a bursary.

5. COMPLETE HOSPITAL HR OVERTIME/DECLARATION FORMS/CONTINUING AS REGISTRAR FORM
These are all hospital specific forms that will need to be completed on an annual basis. All these will be available in hard copy from your HR - check with your specific HR/ department secretory on which forms needs to be done.
